Peer Review Policy
All submissions to Pediatric Academic Case Reports (PACR) are subject to double-blind peer review by independent experts. The purpose of peer review is to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and educational value of the manuscript.
Reviewers are expected to provide objective and constructive comments that help authors improve their work. Criticism should always focus on the science and reporting, not the author personally.
Each submission is evaluated by at least two reviewers, and final decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief after considering reviewers' reports and editorial assessments.
Confidentiality and Ethical Standards
PACR strictly applies a double-blind review process. Reviewers must treat all materials as confidential and must not use any part of the manuscript in their own future work.
PACR follows the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. Reviewers should immediately notify the editors of any ethical concerns, such as lack of patient consent, privacy issues, or suspected plagiarism.
Journal Scope
PACR publishes pediatric case reports and letters to the editor that present educationally valuable, rare, or challenging clinical cases in the field of pediatrics and its subspecialties.
Submissions that do not fit this scope are not considered for review.
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Evaluate the clarity, novelty, and educational relevance of the case.
- Assess whether patient consent and ethical approvals are clearly stated.
- Ensure that the diagnosis, management, and discussion are coherent and supported by the data.
- Provide polite, clear, and constructive feedback to help improve the manuscript.
- Submit the review within 14 days of accepting the invitation.
If you need more time, please contact the editorial office.
Accepting or Declining Invitations
Reviewers invited through the online submission system are asked to respond promptly. If the topic is beyond your expertise or you are unable to complete the review on time, please decline so another reviewer can be assigned without delay.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must decline to review if they have any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that could bias their judgment. If any conflict becomes apparent after accepting, please inform the editors immediately.
Writing Your Review
Your review should include two parts:
- Comments to Authors - Educational and constructive feedback to improve the manuscript.
- Comments to Editors - Confidential observations, including ethical or publication concerns.
Please do not include a final recommendation (accept/reject) in comments to authors. The editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
Decision Process
After receiving reviewers' reports, the editorial team may request a revision or make a final decision. All communication with reviewers is conducted through the PACR online system.
Appreciation
PACR deeply values the time and expertise of its reviewers. Their contribution ensures that published case reports meet the highest scientific and ethical standards and continue to advance pediatric education and clinical practice.
